For twenty one years, civil war has plagued Sudan. The longest civil war in history has displaced more than 4 million people from their homes, and claimed the lives of 2 million others. Pronounced as one of the most underreported humanitarian stories, two college students decided to raise awareness by cycling from Cleveland, OH to Washington D.C.
Sudanese refugees are located in both cities. The cycling trip is symbolic as it will bridge the gap between the displaced people, and send a message of support. The refugees in America have had a difficult time getting accustomed to a new culture and a new life. Organizations such as The Sudenese Education Fund help to minimize the culture differences through educating these individuals.
